Podgorica has begun an 800-metre continuation of Bulevar Veljka Vlahovića that will connect the boulevard with Bulevar Josipa Sladea. Mayor Saša Mujović said the investment is €2.4 million including VAT and is intended to ease traffic, especially transit from the direction of Tuzi and the Božaj border crossing.
He described the section as a modern road, with foul and storm sewers, sidewalks and landscaping. The link is planned to continue toward Bulevar Georgija Žukova and Bulevar Vojislavljevića, which Mujović said would amount to a new loop and a bypass around Podgorica so transit traffic can be shifted out of the city.
The Capital City is the investor and the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica is supervising the works. The contractor is Crna Gora Put, which is also working on Bulevar Vojislavljevića. Mujović said taking on this section will not slow those works. Construction started yesterday, and completion is expected on 14 October 2027.
Deputy mayor Boris Spalević said the city leadership plans a truck market near Zetatrans because freight vehicles have nowhere to park in the capital. He expects the joining of Bulevar Vojislavljevića and Bulevar Veljka Vlahovića to help solve that problem, with the parking infrastructure planned along the same stretch. The Capital City is preparing the project with the construction agency and the Secretariat for Urbanism and Planning.
Mujović also listed other road works already under way or due soon: intensive construction on Bulevar Vojislavljevića, a new bridge over the Morača, and a start on the Western Bypass by the end of the year. A promenade along Brdo Ljubović has been completed.
