Tesla is adding vehicle-to-home, or V2H, capability to the Model 3 and Model Y, its highest-volume electric models. The feature is arriving through a rolling change to the cars’ inverter hardware, according to a report by Car and Driver.
Bidirectional charging allows an electric vehicle to do more than accept electricity from a charger. In a V2H setup, power can also flow from the vehicle’s battery to a home, potentially providing backup electricity when it is needed.
For drivers in Montenegro, the development may be relevant to households considering an EV as part of a wider home-energy system. However, the announcement does not by itself confirm compatibility for every Model 3 or Model Y, nor the availability of supporting equipment in the local market.
Owners interested in using a Tesla for home backup should check the specifications of their individual vehicle and confirm what charging, installation and approval requirements apply before planning a V2H system. The inverter change means hardware details will matter alongside the car’s model year and configuration.
