Porsche has increased its stake in Manthey to 67%, deepening its relationship with the German racing team and performance tuner. The expanded ownership position comes with plans for a limited run of joint Porsche-Manthey models, according to a report by Road & Track.
Manthey is closely associated with Porsche motorsport and high-performance road-car upgrades. A closer corporate link could give Porsche a more direct route to develop highly specialised vehicles that draw on Manthey’s racing and track-focused expertise.
Neither the number of planned cars nor technical details were disclosed. The proposed vehicles are described as “few-off” collaboration models, suggesting they will sit well above mainstream Porsche production lines and be aimed at a narrow group of collectors and performance-focused buyers.
The move may also sharpen Porsche’s approach to ultra-specialist models, in a way that echoes how Mercedes-Benz has used AMG to build performance derivatives with a distinct identity. For drivers in Montenegro, the news is chiefly one to watch rather than a change to the current Porsche range: any Manthey-backed cars are likely to be rare, highly focused machines rather than practical choices for everyday Adriatic road travel.
